TEMPE, Ariz. — The City of Tempe has approved an ordinance that increases the age to purchase tobacco in the city to 21 years old. The current age to purchase tobacco is 18 years old.was approved Thursday evening at Tempe's city council meeting. The new age restriction will not go into effect until next year on May 1, 2024.
