According to the report, Alaska saw 247 fatal drug overdoses last year.
This represents a slight drop from 255 in 2021, but is still significantly higher than in previous years.65 percent of 2022 overdose deaths involved men. Nearly half were white, with American Indian and Alaska Native making up the second largest group at nearly one third.
Age-wise, victims of fatal overdose were found to spike at the 25 to 34 year-old age group, staying high until after 44 years. Still, those in the 45 to 54 and 55 to and 64 year groups still saw significant numbers of overdose deaths.The Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board met on Tuesday, October 17
