While Pollard is unlikely to get away, tight end Dalton Schultz could depart in free agency at a time when more talent is needed on the receiver corps.Tyler Smith is only 21. They drafted him with the No. 24 overall pick despite his raw technique, believing he had the mental makeup to embrace his development while tapping into his strength, athleticism and physical streak.

“The ability was all in there,” Jeremiah said in a recent conference call. “He needed to dial some things back a little bit obviously with the penalties that he had. Ultra-, ultra-aggressive, which led to some balance issues as well. “He has played more under control. He played great this year. Yeah, when you look at his combination of athleticism, physicality, all those things, I would feel pretty confident saying he would be the first offensive lineman picked in this draft.”Jones said Steele is not only ahead of schedule but, in an “unbelievable” rehab, is progressing as fast as any Cowboys player coming off a torn ACL before him. He and Pollard are both expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July.
