Residents of Chelsea, Massachusetts, who receive money from a food and utility subsidy program will receive their final payment in just over two weeks.
The payments, ranging from $200 to $400, will go to 738 households on May 15. The funds, disbursed through the Chelsea Eats program, are meant to subsidize food and utility costs. A Chelsea city spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that the money is loaded onto debit cards, which were issued to recipients in early March.This payment marks the third and final payment of the program. The first payment was issued on March 15, and the second was issued on April 15.
The amount issued to recipients depends on how many people are in their household. A household of one receives $200, a household of two receives $300, and a household of three or more receives $400, according to the program's website.To be eligible, families had to have been residents of Chelsea with a household income of 30% less than the area median. Households of one must make less than $29,450, and households of two must make less than $33,650 to be part of the program.
