Strong thunderstorms - accompanied by tornado warnings from the National Weather Service - have impacted northern Dauphin County as well as counties further north in the Susquehanna valley.

Dauphin County emergency crews fielded multiple calls Sunday afternoon starting around 4 p.m. for downed utility poles and trees falling on wires, mostly in the northwestern portion of the county around Millersburg and Elizabethville. PPL outage maps show more than 1,000 customers without power in northwestern Dauphin as well as northeastern Perry County, in the area between Liverpool and Millerstown.showing the roof ripped off a building that was said to be a fireworks store on Route 15 in Union County just north of Lewisburg.

As of 6 p.m., no storm-related injuries had been treated at Evangelical Community Hospital, a spokesperson said.
