Now, I’m running and watching them standing there and cheering.”Gary Roberson ran plenty during training when he was in the military, but when his wife asked him to run awith her, he didn’t know how it would go. Well, after only training for a few days, Roberson finished second in his age group.

He started leading sessions for the Rising New York Road Runners, a youth fitness organization, at the school where he works as a P.E. teacher. After logging 10 sessions, he received a non-complimentary entry into the 2020 New York City Marathon. There was only one problem—the entry fee was too expensive. So he found Stride For Stride, which was happy to help. But another problem came along—COVID-19.
