Sugar episode 3's biggest clues & hints explained.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Sugar episode 3 reveals the truth about Olivia's disappearance and Clifford's death while also hinting at the titular character's origins and who he works for. Starring Collin Farrell, Apple TV+'s Sugar presents itself as a crime thriller that hooks audiences with a compelling murder mystery in its opening episodes and keeps them guessing till its final moments.
Fortunately for Melanie, Sugar smells danger after his partner, Charlie, tells him about Melanie's visit to an unknown apartment. With what follows, Sugar tricks the men into leaving Teresa's apartment and gets Teresa and her kids out of harm's way by making them leave the site. He then leaves the location with Melanie to ensure Stallings and his men do not question her again.
Owing to this, when Olivia found out that Carmen's husband, Carter, had killed her, she could not help but avenge her death by shooting Carter in the head. For obvious reasons, Olivia asked Melanie for help after the incident. They would have reported the incident to the police, but Olivia was too worried about how it would impact her family's reputation. Therefore, instead of reporting the crime, they put Clifford's body inside a body bag and hid it in Olivia's car's trunk.
Although the invitation for the gathering suggests that it involves people who can speak multiple languages, like Sugar, it seems like there is more to it than meets the eye. As soon as Sugar shows up at the venue, the other members of the community just freeze for a few brief moments before Sugar acknowledges them. This scene alone establishes that everyone at the gathering is as strange as Sugar, hinting that something more is at play.
David later arranges a meeting with his father to tell him about everything he has uncovered. He tries to discuss his suspicion of Sugar's involvement in a polyglot society, but his father does not take him too seriously. His father, Bernie, also seems deadset on getting him involved in another movie, even though Sugar episode 2 confirmed that many women have accused David of harassment.
However, after going through his notes, Ruby discovers that he has written more about his feelings and less about the case. She also remarks how he has only taken up the case because Olivia reminds him of his sister, Djen. Concerned about Sugar's well-being, Ruby reminds him that their job is to observe and report instead of getting attached to the people they are working with. Her warnings and reminders in Sugar episode 3 further reinstate that something supernatural is at play.
