Suspect arrested, accused of arson in La Mesa brush fire [Breaking]

The fire was reported about 1:40 p.m. in the area of Water Street and Amaya Road, where trolley tracks run along trees and vegetation, not far from homes and Grossmont High School. The fire charred the trees and vegetation, and spread to the exterior of an office building before Heartland Fire & Rescue firefighters halted the blaze, authorities said.When officers arrived, they found the suspect, who threw a rock at a passing trolley and then took off down the trolley tracks, police Lt. Katy Lynch said.

Officers caught up to him and detained him without a struggle, Lynch said. The man was arrested on suspicion of setting the fire and throwing an object at a train. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail, where he was being held on $50,000 bail as of Thursday, according to online jail records.
