Luis Joan Diaz-Rojas, 41, is accused of using a vehicle to intentionally kill another man in November 2020 in Puerto Rico.

AKRON, Ohio — A man accused of using his car to kill another man in Puerto Rico was arrested by federal agents Monday in a neighborhood just northwest of downtown.

Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task force arrested Luis Joan Diaz-Rojas, 41, at a residence on the 300 block of Lillian Street, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Diaz-Rojas is wanted by police in Puerto Rico on a homicide charge. The Marshals Service says Diaz-Rojas is accused of intentionally crashing his vehicle into another car in November 2020, killing Jose Ramon Lago-Baez. Diaz-Rojas fled Puerto Rico after the incident, authorities say.

Investigators in Puerto Rico tracked Diaz-Rojas to Ohio. Diaz-Rojas is being held in the Summit County Jail until he can be returned to Puerto Rico to face charges.
