Suspended undercover cop Erik Duran will be cleared of any wrongdoing “once a full and complete investigation is conducted,” his lawyer declared.
Duran allegedly chucked what’s believed to be a plastic cooler at the fleeing man — causing him to lose control of his motorized scooter, strike a parked car and fall to the ground, sources said.
Duprey died from “blunt force injuries of the head,” according to the city medical examiner confirmed,The now-suspended Duran, was conducting a buy-and-bust operation on Aqueduct Avenue near West 190th Street in Kingsbridge Heights around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the suspect took off, authorities said.Scooter-riding suspect Eric Duprey, 30, died when the undercover NYPD sergeant hurled a cooler at him, authorities said.
The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division and State Attorney General’s Office are investigating the actions of Duran, a 13-year veteran of the force.
