Heartland Fire-Rescue firefighters worked for more than an hour-and-a-half to tackle the blaze from a distance but despite the firefight, a plume of smoke rose above the residential neighborhood. A hook-and-ladder truck parked on the street has extended its ladder and is spraying water on the house from some distance away.
At least a half-dozen fire department vehicles were at the scene. Several firefighters are also outside the house, manning hoses. Another half-dozen patrol cars are also parked nearby, some blocking traffic from entering the area.At one point, a large group of firefighters appeared to be huddled on the street behind the hook-and-ladder truck, blocking them from the home. It appeared that there were few efforts were being made to fight the flames still burning in the garage area and main house.
During the long firefight, a large part of the structure in the building's rear collapsed. It was not clear if there were any injuries.This breaking news story will be updated as information becomes available. Details may change.
