Sysco was the second largest public company headquartered in Houston last year. Like most companies, its revenues fell in 2020.Fears about a potential recession have not hurt North America's largest food service distributor, with Sysco reporting double-digit growth in sales sand profits for its first quarter.
Over the first quarter, CEO Kevin Hourican said Sysco gained new business in the education, health care and restaurant sectors. Part of that new customer growth has come from the Sysco Your Way program, which offers additional service -- such as late night orders and daily delivery service -- to neighborhoods with several restaurants in a few block radius.
