Opinion: Tailgating may be a lost tradition in San Diego [Opinion]

” : Seems I recall 25-plus years ago a sticky point for many fans for a Downtown ballpark was the question of “Will we lose our tailgating tradition that we loved at Jack Murphy stadium?”

The answer was “no” because of the designated tailgate parking lots that would be built and the price to park would be affordable. Fast forward to present times, and I just paid $39 for one parking space to a game in July. A ridiculous price to pay. But it is only for the short-term, since both the Padres and the city have decided to go back on their promise to keep tailgating alive. Instead, in the name of progress, tailgating will be a thing of the past once the lot is developed.
