Around this time next year, one of Dallas’ oldest shopping centers will have the city’s newest Target store. Construction on the Wynnewood Village shopping...
, located just west of Interstate 35E at the northwest corner of Illinois Avenue and Zang Boulevard, was built in 1949.
Target’s choice of Wynnewood is a huge boost to the center that Brixmor Property Group has owned since 2002 through a previous subsidiary. the property as demographics changed and neighborhood groups complained that the center hadn’t kept up.along with work on the sprawling parking lots on the 65-acre property.
Wynnewood has 60 stores, services and restaurants including Kroger, Ross Dress for Less, Rainbow, Gamestop, Foot Locker, Five Below, Raising Cane’s and Wingstop. Target has a store in southern Dallas in the Wheatland Towne Crossing shopping center and near downtown in Cityplace. Target is hiring for its store in The Gates of Prosper, which is expected to open later this summer. The retailer hasn’t announced an opening date yet for that store, which at 140,000 square feet is slightly larger than the one in Wynnewood Village.
