A deputy with the Tarrant County sheriff’s office was shot three times Wednesday while serving a warrant, according to an X post from county judge Tim O’Hare.
According to KXAS-TV , the deputy was shot near North Beach Street and Elinor Street in Haltom City. According to a Facebook post from Haltom City police, the department is assisting other agencies and is actively engaged with an armed subject. Police asked residents to shelter in place and avoid the area.Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn said at a Wednesday press conference that deputies were attempting to serve three felony warrants on a 40-year-old man when a gunfight erupted.
Waybourn said the deputy is conscious, alert and visiting family. Officials believe the injuries do not require immediate surgery, Waybourn said.Waybourn said the warrants were for sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child and restraint of a child.
