Today, fans around the world squinted at their screens while watching the singer's latest music video for "The Man." That man, we eventually learn, is actually Swift, who reveals the process behind her incredible transformation at the end of the four-minute clip.
During the video, Swift portrays a bearded businessman who smokes a cigar on a packed subway train while taking up more room that he should. She is seen partying on a yacht surrounded by bikini-clad models and drinking her fill of expensive champagne. Later, that character becomes a distracted father, a hot-headed tennis player, and eventually an older gentleman marrying a much younger wife.
Yet the most surprising part of the feminist anthem is Swift's unbelievable physical double-take. The last ten seconds of the video reveal her director's credit alongside the impressive step-by-step process the singer went through to become "the man": Prosthetics, makeup, wigs, facial hair, the works.
This isn't the first time that Swift spent some serious time in the makeup chair for a music video. She previously enlisted the help of prosthetics professionals for her terrifying Zombie character in —and shared the behind-the-scenes process with her fans. We have a feeling "The Man" won't be her last ambitious transformation.
