Florida Highway Patrol says a 16-year-old boy who was driving a pickup truck 'failed to keep a single lane' which caused a head-on collision.
NASSAU COUNTY, FLORIDA, Fla. — A teen was killed in a wrong-way crash onFHP said a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old boy was traveling southbound on CR-121 at Batten Road, while a 17-year-old girl was driving an SUV, traveling northbound on CR-121 at Batten Road.
The boy"failed to keep a single lane and entered into the northbound lane, directly into the path" of the girl's SUV, the FHP crash report states. The left portion of both their vehicles collided into each other, according to FHP. The boy was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, while the girl was pronounced dead on scene by Nassau County EMS.
Family members identified Sydney Weiscopf, 17, as the victim killed in the crash.
