Just two weeks after being released, 17-year-old Erik Cantu was re-hospitalized due to complications to his stomach and digestive track.
SAN ANTONIO — The teen was originally hospitalized for nearly two months after being shot by a San Antonio police officer.
James Brennand, who has since been fired from the police department and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, shot Cantu while the latter was attempting to eat a hamburger in the McDonald’s parking lot. In a GoFundMe created by Cantu’s uncle and mother, his mom stated that Cantu was back in the hospital this time for three days.
“Yet again we make our way back home with our hearts in our hand knowing this is not the end, only the beginning to a whole new life,” said Cantu’s mom, Natalia Farias-Carranco.
