The large hail pelted portions of South Jersey on Friday, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

Some of the biggest hail — measured at 2.50 inches in diameter, about as big as a standard tennis ball — was found in Shamong in Burlington County, reports from weather spotters show. Hail stones as large as ping pong balls, coming in at 1.50 inches in diameter, were reported in Cherry Hill in Camden County and in Medford Lakes in Burlington County.

“Numerous reports of 1.5-2″ diameter hail have been received from central Camden and Burlington Counties,” the weather service’s Mount Holly office said on Twitter.
