When it comes to Texans’ college football loyalties, the competition is tight among the ticket-buying public. Here’s a look.
Houston is an interesting study in fandom. The University of Houston has most of the ticket sales and those numbers could increase in the coming years with the Cougars moving to the Big 12 and playing more regional rivals instead of conference opponents from other time zones. But the greater Houston area, home to alumni from many different schools, also has pockets of ZIP codes where other teams’ sales lead the way, notably Texas and Texas A&M.
with Alamo City ticket buyers as the Roadrunners have achieved more success in recent years. But Texas, with Austin’s relative proximity, and Texas A&M also are neck and neck with each other and the Roadrunners in many ZIP codes. Some areas on the outskirts of San Antonio lean more toward A&M but in general, the data shows the competition is pretty close among the ticket-buying public.
