Texas Governor Greg Abbott is cracking down on a Venezuelan gang that state officials said are taking over.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott held a press conference on Monday, September 17, 2024 regarding the Venezuelan gang Tren De Aragua .
TDA is notorious for their brutal violence and murder, kidnapping and trafficking of drugs, arms, and even humans,” said Abbott. “El Paso residents were concerned about the gang at the Gateway Hotel. In the last few months, DPS special agents worked with EPPD gang units to arrest criminal activity at and around El Paso’s Gateway Hotel. More than 20 arrests were made. Many of them who were suspected TDA members," Abbott said.
Abbott said earlier this year, more than 100 TDA suspected members were arrested after the riots at the El Paso border when immigrants assaulted the Texas National Guard.
