The seal for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas sits on a chair in the Federal Courthouse Tuesday Sept. 18, 2018 in Houston.A Texas man on Friday was arrested and chargedMatthew Jordan Lindner, 38, of Comfort, Texas, was charged with one count of transmitting interstate threats, according to the Department of Justice. Lindner was arrested on Friday morning and made an initial appearance in the Western District of Texas.

According to the Justice Department, Lindner is accused of allegedly harassing and threatening to kill a physician because the physician was caring for gender nonconforming childrenLindner is accused of leaving a voicemail at the Boston-based National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center, in which he said people who worked there were going to"burn" and that there was a group of people were on their way to"handle" the doctor.

The FBI connected Lindner's threats to inaccurate information that spread online regarding procedures at Boston Children’s Hospital for the transgender community. The hospital was the target of bomb threats and other harassment because of the misinformation campaign, according to authorities. “No one should have to live in fear of violence because of who they are, what kind of work they do, where they are from, or what they believe," said Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division in a statement.

If convicted, Lindner faces a sentence of up to five years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
