AUSTIN, TEXAS - SEPTEMBER 10: Dallas Turner #15 of the Alabama Crimson Tide hits Quinn Ewers #3 of the Texas Longhorns late resulting in a roughing the passer penalty in the first half at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on September 10, 2022 in Austin, Texas.AUSTIN — An apparent upper-body injury knocked Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers out of Saturday’s game against No. 1 Alabama with a few seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Ewers had steered the Longhorns down to the 1-yard line after completing a 46-yard bomb to receiver Xavier Worthy. But on the ensuing play, Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner drove Ewers shoulder-first into the turf. Turner was flagged for roughing the passer. Trainers examined Ewers on the field and in the sideline medical tent before he retreated into the locker room early in the second quarter. Texas has not yet provided a specific update on Ewers’ injury, though he was pointing to his left shoulder/collarbone area prior to leaving the field.Redshirt sophomore Hudson Card replaced Ewers for the remainder of the first half.

Texas running back Bijan Robinson finished off that drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 10-10 with 14:55 remaining in the second quarter.
