The Rangers are in the ALCS for the first time since 2011, when they defeated the Detroit Tigers and reached the World Series for the second straight season. The Astros are in the ALCS for the seventh straight season, which is a record for consecutive League Championship Series appearances. The Astros are the defending World Series champions and they have reached the World Series four times in the past six postseason, winning twice.
