The Texas Supreme Court threw out protections for transgender children and their families today, making it more dangerous to receive gender-affirming care—which includes puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgery—as state leaders push to have safe medical interventions deemed “child abuse”. The justices voted unanimously to allow the Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate parents and doctors who help trans youth seek gender-affirming care.
