is more than power-pop’s Southern jangle inflection point. Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey’s unique blend of late ‘60s British Invasion bravado, triumphant mid-’70s Big Star sadness and late ‘70s No Wave experimentation is still imminently listenable. Assisted by co-producer Alan Betrock , the dB’s crafted standout jams like “Black and White,” a propulsive, brutally honest breakup song with the chorus “I don’t enjoy you anymore.” Fittingly, it’s become a hipster standard.
