TheBatman is such a dark superhero movie that one fan was inspired to make a crossover poster with the 2014 Australian horror film, TheBabadook.

A fan inspired by The Batman's dark tone has created a piece of crossover art with The Babadook. The Babadook, directed by Jennifer Kent, is a 2014 horror movie based on a short film called Monster, also directed by Kent. Despite being made in Australia, the film gained US audiences' attention, being praised for its symbolism for death and grief.

The Batman on the other hand is obviously a much more recognizable title. The DC film starring Robert Pattinson just coming out at the beginning of March. There have of course been several iterations of Batman to hit the big screens, dating back to 1966 when Adam West's Batman: The Movie came to theaters. Matt Reeves' The Batman couldn't be further from West's campy take on the Caped Crusader, with the newest Batman movie being called the darkest entry to the franchise.

While The Batman wasn't categorized as a horror film, the superhero film certainly had elements from the genre. Riddler was much scarier than Jim Carrey's version of the DC villain and, as mentioned above, was very reminiscent of the Zodiac Killer based on the ciphers, the way he toyed with the police, and his glasses. The Riddler even tortured his victims before their death, putting many of them in traps similar to ones seen in the Saw franchise.

The Batman 2 hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but based on the box office performance and critical reception of Batman's latest outing, it's only a matter of time before Warner Bros. greenlights the sequel. And given the ending of the film, The Batman 2 looks like it could have a lighter tone. By the movie's conclusion, Batman discovers Riddler believed they were working together to take out Gotham's corrupt leaders and politicians.
