The Last Kingdom is based on Bernard Cornwell's The Saxon Tales, which covers several decades of English history through the eyes of Uhtred. The Last Kingdom follows the major events of the book series pretty closely, so it would presumably take place over the same period of time.
The Last Kingdom has taken increasing liberties from the novels as the adaptation has grown, however, so it is possible the show decided to change the timeline of events. Seven Kings Must Die's timeline is expected to cover the famous Battle of Brunanburh, which took place in 937 and resulted in what most historians consider the first unification of England under a single king. This battle is likely to be the ending point of the movie and the conclusion of Uhtred of Bebbanburg's story.

Considering how much of fans' love for Uhtred comes from his youth and martial prowess, it makes sense that Seven Kings Must Die wants to avoid aging the character too far. Moreover, in The Last Kingdom, Uhtred ages very little, so it would probably be too much of a shock for the audience if he was aged by 20 or more years for the movie.
