As the Mets’ TV team explained over the weekend, the possum is taking dumps so foul that the road announcers’ booth at the Coliseum is now unusable. The possum now “makes a home in the visitors’ TV booth,” Gary Cohen explained Friday night. “... Only our poor camera guy is left there.”“When our tech people walked into the booth ... they were immediately met by the stench of the possum having, you know, done his business in the booth.
It’s easy to say that it’s a wacky coincidence that Kaprielian’s wild pitching synced up perfectly with an anecdote that captures the shambolic state of the A’s. But Cohen could have been reading the phone book and gotten a similar result. Kaprielian’s outing was, in fact, a representative sample of how bad Oakland’s pitching has been this year.
