Newsweek’s latest cover story will enrage the right-wing audience it has fostered. But obvious problems exist.
It is easy to both over- and underestimate the scale of former president Donald Trump’s support nationwide. It is not the case thatthe country supports him, despite the shorthand that he and others like to use. But it is the case that tens of millions of Americans do and take at face value his assertions about politics and culture.That means that there is a huge audience for evidence that would seem to support his claims.
