Kyla Pratt will STILL say, 'My name is Penny Proud, I’m cute and I’m loud, and I got it goin’ on!'
Let's be honest: the classic serieswas one of the greatest Disney cartoons of the early 2000s to ever grace the small screen. Now, Disney+ has officially restored our fondest memories of Penny Proud and her entire circle of family and friends by announcing a reboot with the original voice cast as their lineup.
The long-awaited reboot of the animated classic will include original executive producers and creators Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar. As far as* and its beloved cast goes, everyone from Penny Proud herself to the wise cracking Suga Mama will be voiced by the same cast that made their debut over 18 years ago.
The star-studded ensemble to return will include: Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer, Alisa Reyes as LaCienga Boulevardez, and Cedric the Entertainer will also voice none other than the treasured mega singer, Uncle Bobby.
In a joint statement, Smith and Farquhar stated, “In our minds, the show never really went away, as we still had tons of stories left to tell. It’s the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can’t wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us.” The wildly popular Disney Channel series aired from September 2001 to August 2005. The new show will air on Disney+, but there is not an official word just yet on exactly when.
