“Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness,” the rock group wrote.
“Absolutely heartbreaking. A truly wonderful, talented & humble man taken far too soon. I feel so privileged to have seen you perform over the years. R.I.P Mark & sending so much love & thoughts to your family & friends 😢❤️ xxx,” a third added.The late musician co-founded The Script with his childhood friend and the group’s lead vocalist and keyboardist Danny O’Donoghue, 42, as well as drummer Glen Power, 41, in 2001.
The band debuted its eponymous album in 2008 and is known for hits including “We Cry,” “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” “Breakeven” and “Before the Worst.”The guitarist passed away “in hospital after a brief illness,” the band shared.Last year, Sheehan skipped out on the U.S. leg of the band’s world tour, however, O’Donoghue confirmed to the Sunday World that it was due to family commitments.
“It’s his story to tell, but yeah, I guess if I could paraphrase, his children needed a father and his wife needed a husband,” O’Donoghue said.
