Russell Crowe provided a candid recollection of his initial hesitations about his role in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator. Winning a total of five Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Crowe’s performance as the Roman general turned gladiator Maximus Decimus Meridius, Gladiator is widely considered one of Crowe’s best films and was instrumental in reigniting Hollywood’s interest in historical epics.
"At the core of what we were doing was a great concept, but the script was rubbish, absolute rubbish. It had all these sort of strange sequences.
How Gladiator’s Script Troubles Continued With The Sequel’s Development After more than 20 years since the original film, production on Gladiator 2 is now officially underway.
