At one time, Cody Lyster was the youngest person to die of COVID-19 complications in Colorado. The 21-year-old was an avid baseball player and all-around talented athlete.

Pamela Orlando was a registered nurse from New Jersey and a single mother of two boys when she was diagnosed with COVID-19. One of her sons told CBS News that Orlando recorded videos of her downward spiral because she wanted to show people what the virus was doing to her. When CBS News checked in on her two sons, her oldest, Reid, said he had previously considered a career in broadcasting — but after his mother died, he started working for a medical staffing company to honor her.

Almost two years later, Katie said parenting alone has been a challenge, especially while grieving. But her desire to be strong for their two children drives her forward. Braedyn, who has cerebral palsy, has learned to walk with the aid of a walker. Their daughter took her first steps on Father's Day last year. Coelho familyAngelle Mosley
