Summer weekend trips sound like fun. Here’s why they could be costly and a headache.

Their flight was canceled and they were rebooked on a flight the next day, meaning they’d miss the wedding. They hopped in a car with friends and drove about seven hours.Mr. Reuben and his fiancée decided to rent a car, which then got a flat tire about two hours away from New York City.
