A deal could come as early as Thursday, according to sources cited by multiple media outlets.Six Flags and Cedar Fair, two of the nation’s largest operators of regional amusement parks, are discussing a merger that could occur as early as Thursday, according to multiple media reports citing people familiar with the discussions.
Both companies operate with little overlap in one another’s markets. Los Angeles is the only market where the two entertainment giants compete for customers.“For the investors, I see this as a complete win,” Penney said. “They’re still rebounding from the pandemic and two years of low attendance. They’re still a little hurt by that. By doing this and pooling their resources together, they’re going to be a little bit stronger as far as putting rides in and making big decisions.
