Doctors told the family that the babies wouldn’t survive the pregnancy, and termination was the best option. But their mother said no.
Driving the babies to doctor appointments is just one of many challenges faced by the family since no car seat exists that meets their unique need. The family was told by doctors that the babies, Daletzy and Daleyza, wouldn’t survive the pregnancy and termination was the best option. But their mother, Norma Gaytan, said no.
The girls are under the hospice care of Dr. Amy Starr, a pediatrician with CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic. Starr said the twins can’t be separated because their heart is so malformed. As the twins continue to live and grow, the question of transportation comes into play. The family needs a car seat that will accommodate them.
Starr and nurses have to travel to the home. Gaytan said the twins rode in an ambulance when going home from the hospital, but this isn’t an ideal solution.

When will sports betting be legalized? - Texas Wants to KnowSuper Bowl LVII is just over a week away, but Texas residents won't be able to place bets on the game -- at least not legally. Some state lawmakers are working to change that, but they could face political hurdles just to get their bills to a floor vote. State Sen. Carol Alvarado (D-Houston) has filed SJR 17, which would create a Texas Gaming Commission and allow for legalized casino gambling in the state, while a yet-to-be-introduced bill back by the Sports Betting Alliance will focus more specifically on sports betting. But some experts, like SMU political science professor Cal Jillson, think the bill will face obstacles, particularly in the Texas Senate, while Robert Kohler, a lobbyist and consultant for the Christian Life Commission of the Baptist Convention of Texas said he thinks gambling just isn't high on the list of priorities for Texas voters or lawmakers.
