It was early Wednesday morning, but divers searching the Patapsco River had already been in the water for hours, a day after a ship crashed into Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing it to collapse.

Six workers who were on the bridge are presumed dead. Divers are trying to recover their bodies."I can't express enough the heroism of these folks. They are in frigid conditions. They are down there in darkness, where they can literally see about a foot in front of them. They are trying to navigate mangled metal. And they’re also in a place that they, that it is now presumed that people have lost their lives," Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said.

"My promise to them is this: I will devote every single resource to making sure that you receive closure," he said.Moore talked to reporters Wednesday morning about numerous aspects of the bridge collapse, including the economics. Moore went on to explain that the Port of Baltimore is responsible for more than 51,000,000 tons of foreign cargo. For everyone buying cars or farm equipment, Baltimore’s port is the largest in the country, Moore said.
