This new Ford Explorer is a small electric crossover built for Europe.
The Explorer EV can be optioned with rear- or all-wheel drive, with 168 hp or 282 hp for the rear-drive version, and 335 hp for the AWD car. Battery sizing has not been released, though because the car uses the MEB platform, it's expected to use the same 52-kWh base battery, up to the 77-kWh battery pack for more powerful versions. Maximum range is predicted to be 300 miles on Europe's WLTP cycle.
Like the bigger Mustang Mach-E, the Explorer EV will use a massive 14.9-inch portrait-style touchscreen to control most of the car's functions. Except here, the screen can slide upward to reveal a compartment in the dash that can be used to store items when parked. Ford says the new electric Explorer was designed in Germany and will be built at the company's Cologne plant,
