Many in the crowd were wearing Jersey Shore orange, the school color, to honor Max Engle, the 17-year-old senior who died Friday as a result of head trauma.

“He will be greatly missed every single day and we know he will be with us in everything we do,” he said quoting a statement from the Engle family. He continued: Students and staff in numerous school districts wore orange on Thursday. Jersey Shore picked that day because it was the fourth school day of the week and Engle’s uniform number was 4.
“Again, I remind you about the importance of taking care of one another, supporting one another and fighting for every opportunity to be our best and make others better. I believe Max did that, and he did it well.Armbruster continued that on Friday he encouraged the football team “to find someone in the locker room to check in with as we make sure nobody endures this hurt alone. I would hope you all do the same.
