Health care provider and unions representing 75,000 workers nationwide extend talks into Tuesday

In California, a three-day strike is planned for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, though the duration of the work stoppage in other states varies. The strike involves a coalition of service employee unions and the strike would involve workers in jobs such as environmental service, reception, respiratory care and other types of technical work as well as licensed vocational nurses.
Though there appeared to be a large number of health care workers lodging in local hotels in the days leading up to the strike, it did not appear Monday that they were straining capacity.
