The Tigers outfielder was caught stealing in the top of the second inning against the Guardians on Monday, and he got some pain for his troubles.
The already terrible moment got worse for the 24-year-old outfielder, as the ball bounced into Gimenez’s glove and the infielder applied the tag, with Baddoo essentially assisting in his own out.
“The ball hit him and Giemenez was able to catch it and tag him,” the Bally Sports broadcasters remarked.Tigers left fielder Akil Baddoo is tagged out by Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez while attempting to steal second base.Unfortunately for Baddoo, who remained on his hands and knees at the bag, there was no kidding involved.
This year, through his first 22 games entering Monday, Baddoo has hit .234 with a .626 OPS, and against the Guardians, he hit No. 6 in Detroit’s lineup.
