The 3-year-old's body was found Monday hours after she was reportedly swept away at the top of the falls.
reported Nevaeh Jade Newswanger, of Denver, was visiting Whitewater Falls in Sylva when she got pulled into the rushing water around 5:50 p.m. Sunday.
Rescue crews searched for hours until they found Newswanger’s body trapped in the waterfalls around 1 a.m. Monday, according to LancasterOnline. Sylva is near the South Carolina border. Authorities reportedly said the Newswanger family was staying in Oconee County, South Carolina, while working in the area., Whitewater Falls is more than 400 feet high and one of the tallest — and deadliest — falls east of the Rockies. The Times reported at least 15 people have died there since 1995.
