Tom Brady, considerado el mejor jugador en la historia de la NFL, anunció este martes que el fútbol americano se transformará en 'flag football' (tochito bandera), deporte que acaba de ser aceptado como parte de los Juegos Olímpicos de Los Angeles 2028.
'Hay gente que quiere que cada vez haya menos contacto físico en el fútbol, eso es algo más cercano al 'flag football' que estará en los Juegos Olímpicos en 2028. Creo que el fútbol americano tal vez se convertirá en flag football en el futuro', afirmó el ganador de siete anillos de Super Bowl.
El 'flag football' es un formato reducido del fútbol americano de cinco integrantes por equipo en el que para detener al oponente se le debe quitar una de las banderas o cintas que cada jugador porta a los lados de la cadera sin emplear contacto físico. Desde el 2022 este deporte ha sido la apuesta de la NFL para ampliar su base de aficionados alrededor del mundo.
