This watch represents part of why the WSFA 12 News First Alert Weather team has declared today into tonight a First Alert Weather Day. This will be a highly impactful storm system that will move affect the state. The system will bring widespread very heavy rain, thunderstorms and windy conditions this afternoon through late tonight. Flash flooding and severe storms are likely to be involved for parts of the WSFA 12 News viewing area.

Flash flooding will be a considerable threat over the next 24 hours as very heavy rain moves through. This risk level is not all that common in Alabama and means that heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding is possible to likely during this event.
