As stock markets around the world plunge due to the coronavirus, France is already witnessing drastic reductions in the number of tourists heading its way
, over 89.4 million tourists visited in 2018; more than any other country. So it would follow that a drop in global tourism as a result of fears and travel bans due to the virus, would have a huge impact on France.... [+], the virus has killed nearly 2,500 people in China since first being identified in late 2019.
As China has been put on lockdown, the impact has been felt by tourist markets overseas. France’s Finance Minister, Bruno Le Maire, spoke to CNBC’s Dan Murphy on Sunday at theG-20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meetings in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As Chinese visitors account for 2.7 million tourists each year, he said, “it won’t be the same, of course, in 2020.” He added that tourism in France had dropped by about 30 to 40% since the outbreak began....
