Tractor operator badly injured in collision with Amtrak train in Oakland.
OAKLAND — A tractor operator was badly injured Friday morning when his machine was hit by an Amtrak train in East Oakland, authorities said.The collision happened about 11:05 a.m. Friday on the tracks in the area of 50th Avenue and East Eighth Street, police said.
The tractor was on the tracks when it was hit and the operator had to be extricated, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital but his condition was not immediately known. The collision caused fuel leaks from both the train and tractor and fire department hazmat crews were called, authorities said.
