Trucker killed in semi crash on I-15 near Mission Valley [Breaking]
A truck driver was killed Tuesday evening when a semi jackknifed and overturned on a rain-slicked Interstate 15 in the Mission Valley area, authorities said.
The crash was reported a little before 6:15 p.m. on north I-15 near Interstate 8, in an area between Mission Valley and Grantville, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. It wasn’t immediately clear how the single-vehicle crash occurred. A California Highway Patrol incident log identified the semi as a UPS truck.
Firefighters responded to the scene for a vehicle-rescue call, but the truck driver “did not survive the crash,” . CHP officers at the scene requested personnel from the county Medical Examiner’s Office just after 6:30 p.m.
