"The country that I experience when I walk through this crowd, or when I wake up in my town of 100 people in a rural area, is a beautiful country filled with beautiful people." Before the show started, Carlson explained how he ended up opening for Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie.
Carlson said that discussion was two months ago, adding that he "had no idea" what he was going to say until he arrived in Louisiana.But, he said, he changed his mind when he got to Gonzales.He then pointed to a lighting rig, which was shaped like a cross -- "A shape I like," he added. He also spoke of an encounter he had with a woman at the show.
