An SUV attempting to evade a traffic stop rolled over on Interstate 35 near the AT&T Center, according to San Antonio police.
Two people died and four others were hospitalized Wednesday morning after an SUV attempting to evade a traffic stop rolled over on Interstate 35 in the AT&T Center area, according to San Antonio police.
Authorities said the crash happened just before 8 a.m. near the Walters Street exit. The northbound and southbound lanes of the interstate have been closed since shortly after the crash and are expected to remain closed to traffic for hours. According to police, the driver of the SUV, which had seven men inside, was driving erratically when an officer attempted to pull the vehicle over.
The SUV sped off and attempted to get onto I-35 but struck a metal barrier. San Antonio Police spokesperson Jennifer Rodriguez said the officer did not initiate a chase. Two men were ejected and died at the scene, Rodriguez said. Four others were taken to the hospital in serious and critical condition.LATEST SPORTS NEWS
